About MAC
In June 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court reversed Roe v. Wade, ending federal abortion rights. Before this decision, the Midwest faced some of the most restrictive abortion policies in the country. Now, as many states are choosing to further restrict or ban abortion, individuals in this region face even greater barriers to access. Many people are forced to travel out-of-state in order to receive the services they need.
The hardships and costs of travel vary, as does the cost of an abortion itself. If a person is struggling to come up with enough money to pay the bare minimum for their procedure, how will they be able to pay for travel, hotel stays, childcare, food, and other costs?
That's where we come in.
Our Mission
MAC envisions a world in which all people have access to safe, free, legal abortions wherever they live. As a practical abortion fund, MAC helps people traveling to, from, and within the Midwest access a safe abortion by assisting with travel coordination and costs, lodging, food, medicine, and childcare.

We believe that people deserve the freedom to decide whether to have an abortion. MAC puts clients’ comfort and privacy first while working to center their voices and experiences.

We belong to an interdependent coalition committed to building a movement. MAC achieves collective power through education, advocacy, volunteer mobilization, and allied partnerships.

We recognize that health equity can only be achieved by dismantling the systems of oppression that obstruct reproductive justice. MAC strives to disrupt power structures that uphold white supremacy and infringe on bodily autonomy.

We approach our work with humility and resilience. MAC advances access and continually adapts to provide practical support amid a turbulent political landscape.
COURAGE matters at MAC
We are unapologetically pro-abortion, no matter the risk. MAC confronts the stigma and disinformation that prevent pregnant people from accessing shame-free, high-quality, safe, and legal health care.
Who We Are
We are a small but mighty team of staff and volunteers based in the Midwest. Founded in 2014, MAC has supported just under 5,000 people from 30 states. MAC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
