At this time, we are not accepting applications for volunteers. Check back in a few months, and see the opportunities below to be in community with MAC.

Work at MAC

  • MAC is not actively hiring at this time.

    ABOUT US

Midwest Access Coalition (IL 501c3) is a regional practical support organization (PSO) that assists low-income individuals with the funding and support needed to surpass barriers to accessing abortion at any gestation. For those who are traveling to, from or within the Midwest to access safe abortion services, MAC plans and funds bus/train/plane travel, gas reimbursements, rideshares, volunteer drivers and hosts, hotel accommodations, food, and childcare. We envision a world where abortion is completely accessible to all financially, geographically, and emotionally.

Since 2015, MAC has assisted over 7,000 individuals and families from over 33 states going to over 70 clinics throughout the country. We prioritize centering the client experience and work hard to develop relationships with abortion funds, other PSOs, and clinics to ensure the quality of the abortion access journey is high no matter where one lives.

    THE ROLE

You will thrive in this role if you:

    • Are committed to creating and promoting an antiracist culture, understanding that racism is the single most critical barrier to building a movement for social change.

    • Are passionate about reproductive health care, access and justice work

    • Have strong interpersonal skills and are a clear and empathetic communicator

    • Are comfortable asking questions, enjoy working on a team, and can remain open minded when receiving feedback

    • Know how to draw personal as well as professional boundaries in relation to client facing work and/or collaboration with our partners

The Referral Coordinator (RC) will report to the current Co-Directors of Client Services and will be part of a remote-based team that works collaboratively to case manage directly with clients, abortion funds, other PSOs, and abortion providers.

The RC is a new role at MAC and will perform a variety of duties. Their primary responsibility will be the oversight and management of our high-volume hotline.

Our new hire will join a pre-existing and growing Client Services department. Team collaboration is key, and the RC will be supported by the Co-Directors of Client Services as well as their other team members.

    DUTIES INCLUDE:

    • Explain to callers how to make an appointment or fund their procedure

    • Assign clients to coordinators
